Welcome to SwingSpotTrader

My name is Hans Vogelsang, and I’m an independent swing trader from the Netherlands. I live in a small town north of Amsterdam and have been fascinated by financial markets since childhood.

SwingSpotTrader is my personal trading journal and educational project. Here, I share my trading insights, decisions, and reflections — based on real trades, not theory or demo accounts. Every trading day (on average), I take a position in the European or U.S. stock markets and document the full process: my reasoning, the outcome, and the lessons learned.

Unfortunately my English is not perfect, so I use Deepl.com and sometimes ChatGPT to translate the texts from Dutch to English. This means that it sometimes happens that a word is translated too literally or sentences are a bit crooked. My apologies for that. It does not mean that this site is written by AI. It does mean that my English translations still have some shortcomings. And talking about AI, I’m not a holy man, so of course I regularly use it to get background information.

This newsletter is not a signal service. First of all, it’s educational and besides that it’s a transparent, real-time account of my own trading journey — including the wins and the losses.

Why I Do This

My goal is to learn, evaluate and grow as a swing trader — and to help you do the same. I believe that by sharing my decisions and reflections, I can add educational value for both beginner and experienced traders. No guarantees, of course — but it’s my sincere commitment to give this project 100%.

I write in plain language. No hype. No unrealistic promises. Just real swing trading, from someone who lives and breathes the market.

My Story

I bought my first shares in 1995 — a conservative ING fund — and quickly caught the trading bug. Like many others, I learned the hard way that markets are humbling. After the dot-com crash, I shifted to individual stocks, and later to swing trading and value investing. Some trades worked out beautifully. Others didn’t. That’s the game.

I’m not a guru. I’m a trader with a long memory and a habit of writing things down.
